Preparation Time: Indefinite. Serves two.
Rekindle the memories of previous lover
over an open flame
until black and charred.
Let cool.
Grind to a fine powder
with mortar and pestle and force of will
and let blow away on first available breeze.
Marinate tender new love overnight
for countless nights
in starlight and midnight whispers.
Gradually increate heat until selves are well blended.
Mix with hopes for the future,
half-hearted arguments about who misplaced the keys
(may substitute remote for keys here),
or who used the ketchup last.
Though you risk breaking it,
gently fold in your heart
(which by now should be thoroughly thawed).
Do not measure. Share. Enjoy.
